Why bother blogging?

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

I dedicate too much of my thought considering what I should be doing. Unfortunately, what I should be doing seems to conflict with what I want to do - watch tv, exercise, watch tv, play guitar, play poker, socialize, watch tv and generally just consume culture.

Screw consumption - I want to produce. I want to blog.

But I’m not.

Instead, as a creature of habit, I tend to spend time (outside of work, at least) doing things that are easy and habitual. I come home from work with the best intentions - hang a picture on the wall, develop a new widget for a friend’s site, make plans for my future, blog or start a web based business. However, my abode delivers a pre-packaged, saran-wrapped, recyclable array of lazy culture-consumption and comfort that sucks me in denying escape. I end up consuming and rarely produce anything.

So today I broke the chain. I’m actually blogging.

Hooray.

That’s one mean chipmunk! (The best 5 second video ever).
